WHAT IS BOARD CERTIFICATION

WHAT IS BOARD CERTIFICATION

Board certification is not intended as a license to practice, nor as a qualification for a certain position; however, an employer, civil service system, state licensing body, or third party underwriter may accept it as a preferred or alternate credential.  No governmental or other regulatory entity currently requires board certification.  Recognition of board certification and the value or credence given to board certification by an agency, employer, or third-party insurer is entirely at its discretion.  Such value or credence should be based upon knowledge of the board certification standards and upon experience with BCEAs.

Board certification is voluntary. Individuals seeking board certification as an education advocate choose to do so of their own free will and, in doing so, agree to accept the decisions of NSEAI.  The authority of NSEAI is derived from those persons who are dedicated to serve as practicing education advocates and are thus those who are most affected by board certification.

The credibility of certification results from the standards established by NSEAI, by the performance of the NSEAI Board of Directors, Officers and Board Certification Committee, and most importantly, by the professional competence and integrity of the Board Certified Education Advocates.

NSEAI encourages and promotes the work of other professional associations and other organizations involved in the various facets of providing services to individuals in need of educational advocacy services, it is an independent body and seeks to remain free from any vested interest.
