Maureen is a Board Certified Educational Advocate at the Fellow Level. She provides educational advocacy services through the North County Educational Advocates, iepnc.com. and provides services to San Diego County.

Maureen has over 25 years of experience in public and non-public schools, She aims to ensure children with disabilities have available to them a free and appropriate education to meet their unique needs.

Maureen has demonstrated the possession of extensive and specific knowledge in Special Education Advocacy. Maureen works with parents and families throughout Southern California and educates families about disabilities. She provides information as well as the tools they need in order to have an active role in their quest to have their child's needs met. Helping families navigate through the special education process while maintaining an atmosphere of team effort with the school system through clear and respectful communication is a priority.

Maureen's background as a teacher, beginning in 1988, and her decision to practice as a private advocate in 2004, provides a unique skill set to advocacy for children. In addition to her varied work advocating for children with special needs, in school districts throughout the state, 

Maureen has been extensively trained by well regarded clinicians on proven advocacy strategies and effective programming for children with disabilities.

Maureen also received training, certification and extensive FBI background checks as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). The National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association supports and promotes court-appointed advocacy for abused or neglected children in the United States. CASAs are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don't get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Maureen received necessary training in courtroom procedures, social services, the juvenile justice system and the special needs of abused and neglected children.

Maureen has earned a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, Master of Arts, and two Special Education Specialist credentials.
